Kidsgrove crashed out of the Emirates FA Cup in the first preliminary round as they lost 2-1 to Bedworth United in a feisty contest.
The game started evenly with both teams having plenty of half chances, but no clear-cut chances. The first chance came on 16th minute when Will Whieldon was sent through on goal, one on one with the Bedworth Keeper but it was well stopped and the follow up was blasted over the top of the crossbar.
Kidsgrove continued to dominate, and Jack Bromfield had a great chance late in the first half with a fantastic run, but the keeper was onto it and stopped Bromfield putting Kidsgrove in front.
Within the first minute of the second half, Kidsgrove earned themselves a penalty after Kingsley Adu-Gyamfi was brought down inside the box. Kyle Diskin stepped up onto the plate and coolly finished the penalty bottom left-hand corner. Kidsgrove got the goal they deserved from their first half performance.
However, it only took Bedworth 10 minutes to find an equaliser as Elliot Parrott headed home from a wide free kick and, with 20 minutes to go, Kidsgrove found themselves behind after Eesa Sawyers finished off a good move from Bedworth.
Bedworth continued to dominate the second half, hitting the crossbar and the post within a matter of minutes.
It's a disappointing result for the Grove, but they’ve got to keep their heads up, as they continue their league season at home against Widnes on Tuesday. 7:45pm Kick Off.
