Kidsgrove Athletic earned themselves a point in a hard-fought game against a tough Colne side.
It was a slow start from Kidsgrove with Colne having more of the ball and looking more dangerous. The Lancashire side tested Kieran Harrison all through the first half but he was equal to every shot he faced.
Colne continued to control the game and got their deserved goal on 58 minutes through Reece Webb-Foster after he was played in behind the Kidsgrove defence and slotted it past Harrison who couldn’t save this one.
After the goal, Kidsgrove started to get more into the game and started creating more chances, which were posing a threat to Colne keeper Hakan Burton.
Kidsgrove found their equalizer with 20 minutes to go, a short corner routine by Kyle Diskin resulted in a shot that was saved by Burton but it fell to the substitute Ethan hartshorn who tapped the ball into the net to make the final 20 minutes more interesting.
It was end to end football the last 20 minutes with both teams having plenty of chances and the keepers making multiple saves to keep their sides in the game, the best coming from Harrison after saving a deflected free kick with his feet after some fantastic reactions.
The game finished 1-1 and it was a hard earned draw, now Kidsgrove look to Monday’s game where they welcome local rivals Newcastle Town to the Autonet insurance Stadium. 3pm Kick Off.
