Kidsgrove suffered a third consecutive defeat following their 3-1 loss to Belper Town at the Marstons Stadium.
Both sides struggled to get going in the first half but the first chance fell to the hosts as good work from Haydn Goddard and Ruben Wiggins-Thomas allowed Matt Richards in but he dragged his shot wide.
The Grove were beginning to create some chances after Dan Skelton’s driven shot went wide of the post.
However, it was Wiggins-Thomas who was able to curl his shot into the top right of Chris Martin’s goal and put the hosts one up.
With just over eight minutes played in the second half, Belper doubled their lead after Alex Steadman converted the rebound following Wiggins-Thomas shot hitting the post.
Kidsgrove were back in the game just past the hour mark after Harry Clayton was bundled over. Captain Anthony Malbon stepped up and confidently dispatched his spot kick to give Grove some hope.
The goal definitely helped Kidsgrove liven up after Ryan Austin’s header was saved well from the corner by Scott Low.
Belper had the chance to add a third following Martin saving well from Steadman whose shot was tipped onto the post.
The hosts found the third goal to finish the game after link-up play from Laurence Constable allowed Wiggins-Thomas to finish past Martin and get his second of the game.
