A late winner from captain Anthony Malbon helped the Grove defeat Sheffield FC, 2-1 at the Novus Stadium.
Kidsgrove started the match well with link up play from Malbon causing the Sheffield defence all kind of problems. He first linked up with Dan Skelton who shot just wide of the away goal.
On the eight minute mark, the Grove defence were unable to clear the ball and it fell to striker James Gregory, who was able to slot it past Chris Martin and put the away side one up.
Captain Malbon was again involved, this time linking up with Harry Clayton who shot against the post. Minutes later and Ross Davidson came to Kidsgrove's rescue, clearing off the line following Martin spilling a shot.
The Grove were pushing forward well and creating chances during the first half. Malbon played in Clayton who drilled across goal, only for Kyle Diskin to hit the bar from a yard out.
Five minutes before the interval and Kidsgrove's pressure paid off after nice play from Grocott allowed Arron Johns to finish from close range.
Grove began the second half as they finished the second with Malbon and Clayton linking up again, this time Clayton was denied by Christopher Butt in the Sheffield goal.
Kidsgrove dominated the second half and prevented their opposition from creating any clear-cut chances. The link-up play from midfield to strikers were causing Sheffield all kind of problems.
Ten minutes from time and the Grove found their winner after Skelton hit a fierce shot which deflected off Malbon and into the bottom right corner.
Kidsgrove will next face Lincoln United at the Novus Stadium on Tuesday 28th March, kick-off at 19.45.
