after they came from 2-0 down to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Sheffield.
The visitors opened the scoring through James Gregory after five minutes before Chris Adam added a second two minutes into the second half.
However, Grove boss Ward was delighted with the way his players responded to level thanks to Karl Charlton's 54th-minute strike and Matt Haddrell's 61st-minute penalty after Sam Hall was brought down.
Having gone 2-0 down, Ward gambled by taking off Liam Shotton, pushing Karl Charlton up front from midfield and bringing on Ricky Bridge out wide.
Ward said: "A lot of teams would have been finished at 2-0 down, but we came back to show we are a good side. I was disappointed we didn't go on to win it because, after getting back to 2-2, we had three of four good chances.
"We went asleep at the start of each half and were punished. But we haven't lost much ground, so this might turn out to be a valuable point."
The result keeps Kidsgrove in third and leaves Ward focusing on the battle for the play-offs.
He said: "I think Barwell will win the title now, but two wins out of five could get us into the play-offs."
Grove's experienced striker Haddrell has a knee problem and is an early doubt for tomorrow's game at home to Loughborough.
