After a month away from football, Kigsrove Athletic returned on Saturday afternoon with a one all draw to Midlands Premier League side AFC Wulfrunians, in a mid-season friendly fixture.
Kingsley Adu-Gyamfi was the goal scorer for the Grove, as he converted from the penalty spot early in the first half following a handball in the box from a Wulfrunians defender.
Just eight minutes into the second half however, AFC Wulfrunians pulled themselves level thanks to a stunning free kick on the edge of the box.
It was a game that was more about getting back to match sharpness for the Grove rather than the result, and many first team players got plenty of action in preparation for Tuesday nights FA Trophy First Round clash against Stamford.
Kidsgrove were quick to remove any rustiness, as the created many opportunities during the game, however, the Wulfrunians keeper was in fine form to match any attempt on goal.
Jake Twyford made his first appearance for the club on his return following a spell at Leek Town, and made a very good impression.
Wulfrunians looked dangerous on the break but Kieran Harrison made some great saves to keep the Grove level.
Kidsgrove will be aiming to build on this performance now, as they head into Tuesdays huge FA Trophy fixture, against high flyers Stamford.
