Our first two league games have seen us face two tough opponents, with the season getting off to a challenging start.
Our opening fixture against Lower Breck was sadly postponed following the passing of their Chairman, John Moore. Our thoughts and condolences go out to John’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Our first league game was played last Tuesday, where we suffered a hard-fought 1–0 defeat against Shifnal Town. On another day, we could have scored a hatful of goals, but unfortunately it just wasn’t our night. We also finished the game with ten men, which made an already difficult evening even tougher.
Tonight’s away fixture against Witton Albion saw us suffer a 2–0 defeat. Credit to Witton, who put in a great display and deservedly took all three points.
We would like to wish Lower Breck, Shifnal Town and Witton Albion all the very best for the season.
We now have a busy Bank Holiday weekend ahead, starting with our first FA Trophy fixture on Saturday against Coventry United, before returning to league action on Monday when we welcome Congleton Town to the Fitzjohn Stadium.
Plenty to look forward to.
Up the Grove!
