1) Cleethorpes Town was formed by former footballer Grimsby Town footballer Tommy Watson in 1998, meaning all but 6 of Kidsgrove Athletics current squad are older than the club.
2) Prior to the current name of the club ‘Cleethorpes Town FC’ the club were previously called Lincolnshire Soccer School & LSS Lucarly’s.
3) The club won their first Lincolnshire Senior cup last year, beating Stamford AFC 5-3 on penalties.
4) Ex Portsmouth midfielder Ben Davies currently plays for the club. He boasts over 300 football league appearances.
5) The name Cleethorpes comes from the Nordic language. ‘Clee’ means clay and ‘thorpes’ means villages.
